Kathleen R. Vander Wall, Au.D., CCC-A

Dr. Kathleen Vander Wall is the owner of Sierra Hearing Center. She graduated from Utah State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communicative Disorders and a Master of Science degree in Audiology in 1988. After completing an internship at the University of Utah Department of Otolaryngology in 1988, Kathleen has been affiliated with Ear Nose and Throat Specialists in Reno.

With the desire to provide patients with the most advanced and comprehensive auditory care possible, Kathleen returned to the classroom to pursue a doctoral degree. She completed a Doctor of Audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2001.

Governor Kenny Guinn appointed Kathleen to serve on the Nevada State Hearing Aid Specialists Licensing Board in July 2004. She served as Board Chair through June 2007.

Kathleen’s interest in helping others lead to her volunteering her services as a member of Liga International The Flying Doctors of Mercy. She conducted 38 clinics for hearing impaired children in Sinaloa, Mexico between November 2004 and June 2008. The Starkey Hearing Foundation generously provided hearing aids allowing Kathleen to fit over 500 children with hearing instruments.

Kathleen holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a member of that organization. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.

Rich W. Panelli, Au.D., CCC-A

Dr. Rich Panelli, a third-generation Reno native, joined Sierra Hearing Center in June 2002. He graduated from Utah State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communicative Disorders. Rich participated in track as a Division I Athlete from 1996 - 1999. In 2002, Rich graduated from the University of Utah with a Master of Science degree in Audiology. He completed an internship at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2002.

Rich is an advocate for quality patient care. He therefore enrolled in a Doctor of Audiology program. Rich graduated from A. T. Stills University, Arizona School of Health Sciences with a Doctor of Audiology degree in March 2009.

Governor Jim Gibbons appointed Rich to serve on the Nevada State Hearing Aid Specialists Licensing Board in July 2007. He is currently the Board Chair.

Rich became a member of Liga International The Flying Doctors of Mercy in 2004 because he wanted to help people less fortunate. He subsequently volunteered his professional services in 6 clinics for hearing impaired children in Sinaloa, Mexico between November 2004 and June 2006. Rich continues his volunteer work in Reno. He donates his many talents for charitable organization such as Rain Shadow Charter School, The Holland Project, The Evelyn Mount Foundation, and Koinonia Foster Homes.

Rich holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a member of that organization. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
